My Diet & Nutrition

The area of diet & nutrition is unique to each person - there is no one-size-fits-all.  This plan is one Jen and I put together after reading many books and scouring the internet.  It works for me, it may not work for you.  We encourage you to arrive at your own conclusions based on your own health needs and research.

Also - I don't mega-dose on anything.  I take at least the RDA, and maybe more where its safe.  You have to watch those fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), since toxicity is possible.  But any vitamin is potentially toxic if you really go too far.  Ask your doctor if you're unsure.

Since the FDA does not review supplement claims, you have to do thorough research to arrive at the truth.  We do  NOT read vendor claims.  Before trying anything, we find many different sources that arrive at the same conclusion.

Here's my typical day - pretty boring, but we're trying to stay on a healthy track with cancer-fighting food & supplements where possible:

  • Meals - several, smaller meals works best for me, I graze more than anything...not on purpose...I just don't like large meals.  We aim for all good, natural food, organic where feasible, nothing too crazy...its hard to keep fresh vegetables within reach every day...but we try.  Lots of fish, vegetables, fruit, some breads, pasta, some red meat (not too much).
  • Multi-vitamin (C, A, B, E, + minerals)
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E (with Selenium)
  • Vitamin B complex
  • Vitamin A (beta carotene)
  • CoQ-10 (Coenzyme Q10) - good for the heart
  • Milk Thistle - good for Liver detoxification
  • Garlic
  • Turmeric  - also contains Ginger, Green Tea, Rosemary extracts
  • Omega-3 complex - fatty acids linked to cardiovascular health
  • Aloe Vera Juice - I drink 2-3 ozs. twice a day (tastes bad, so I chase it with OJ).
  • Minerals - colloidal & chelated - in juice form ("colloidal" means suspended in solution, "chelated" means attached to a protein to aid digestion).
  • Meal supplements - I sometimes use meal-shakes, protein-shakes, fruit smoothies, etc.
  • Juice - we have juicer, and make some various juices like homemade V8, etc.
  • Nuts - almonds, roasted soybeans
  • Water! - and lots of it.  My kidney's are working overtime from chemo.

I haven't completely eliminated sweets yet - but I'm trying.  Sugar feeds the tumors.

No caffeine, no alcohol.
